Impact in 2012 and Targets for 2013

Dear Ubuntu Supporter,

Ubuntu at Work has grown by leaps and bounds since it was established in December 2008.  With minimal financial support, but enormous amounts of commitment, passion, and hard work we ecstatic to report that we have exceeded our targets!

We now operate Workspaces in 30 villages in southern India, South Africa, and in Indonesia, have trained and supported over 7,500 women living in poverty, and have over 37,000 beneficiaries.  A growing number of our women-members have moved beyond Ubuntu at Work and started their own growing enterprises.   5% of our membership have gained skills to produce high quality products for global markets.  1% have 'graduated' from Ubuntu at Work to start their own enterprises or join collaborative community ventures.  The remaining are participating in our training and capability development programs.

Our revenues for 2012 exceeded our targets as well.  For the first time, our sales of $60,000 generated funding to not just cover our expenses but also enabled us to expand into 15 new villages and communities.  Our trained women-members (5% of our total membership this year) earned a total of $24,000.  Our women-members have stitched, stuck, and screen-printed well over 100,000 bags for the Indian market.  Our current production capacity, following our training efforts, is at 100,000 a month and growing!  Our women-members are hungry for orders!

By the end of 2013 our goal is to increase our impact five-fold - training/supporting 40,000 women and 200,000 beneficiaries.

To achieve our 2013 targets we need to raise $200,000.  Would you please help us with a donation?  Your donation will help us expand our operations so we can fulfill the orders we anticipate getting by the third quarter of 2013.

Your donation will help us transform the lives of up to 200,000 folks living in poverty.  Every dollar donated helps one person for a full year!

We very hope you will support us.   We are putting in as much of ourselves and our resources as we can.  We will be most grateful for your support and contribution.  Without your help thousands of women and their families will spend 2013 without hope and mired in poverty.   You can transform their lives and communities.

Please help us 'Scatter Joy' in 2013!

Thank you.
