Darlene R. Currie is Co-Founder/CEO, Kota Global Social Ventures and Principal, Currie + Associates & Founder, Global Social Impact Fund
Darlene co-founded Kota Global Social Ventures, LLC, a sister entity of Kota Global Securities Inc., in 2011, and she leads its mission-driven enterprise. Darlene brings over 20 years of experience from across the sectors, including as Senior Philanthropic Advisor at Tides Foundation where she led a diverse team advising institutional, high net worth individual/family clients\' domestic-global grantmaking and impact investments to support a range of social justice initiatives.
Prior to Tides, Darlene developed/launched Youth & Education Philanthropic Programs at Time Warner Inc.\'s Office of Corporate Responsibility. She was also the Director of Research & Education Policy at The After-School Corporation (TASC), an operating foundation created by George Soros\' Open Society Foundations (OSF).
As Principal of Currie + Associates, Darlene has advised individuals, families, private/corporate foundations, government agencies, nonprofits, and start-up social enterprises. She served as a Board Member of Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) â€“ a global nonprofit of which she is an alumna (Investment Banking & Corporate Law Career Programs).
Darlene also founded/seeded the Global Social Impact Fund (a donor advised fund) to provide patient, philanthropic capital to innovative initiatives promoting economic inclusion and social entrepreneurship.
Early in her journey, Darlene designed/taught interdisciplinary high school college prep courses, mentoring youth from high school to college to career.
Darlene holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and an A.B. from the Honors Degree Program in English and American Literature at Brown University. She divides her time between New York City and San Francisco.
