Update on U.S. Marketing

It's been a while since I've posted - but I've been no less busy with Ubuntu matters since returning to the United States! While finishing up my senior year at Georgetown University, I've been helping Ubuntu out with marketing affairs in the U.S. It's been a tough and sometimes frustrating process, but ultimately rewarding because I know that I am working on behalf of women who I met personally this summer, whose incredible stories I'll never forget.

One area I've been working in is the marketing of reusable bags in U.S. stores. Most U.S. stores get plastic bags from China, but the movement toward other, reusable materials is gaining ground. So far my marketing here has been a long process of calling businesses and trying to work through their bureaucracies to help Ubuntu become a vendor. Now that it's a new year and stores are more likely to be doing inventories, Ubuntu is hoping for success on this front in the months to come!

I've also been marketing Ubuntu's funky and colorful bracelets to students at Georgetown, as well as my network in my home base of Northern California. The bracelets have been a huge success! These beautiful bangles were a hit at Georgetown in December, and I sold over 100 in just a few days. I'm still getting requests for them, and it's great to see my friends sporting them around campus. If you haven't seen what they look like yet, check out some pictures on Ubuntu's facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/ubuntuatwork.

Look for more blog posts from me on the US marketing front in the future!
